Take your skis in now

Quick reminder post. Take your skis in to the shop. Now, not the week before opening day.

They need wax. They probably need a tune. And if you live where I live, last winter did them no favors. Ice, rocks, frozen crud groomed over gravel. Whatever shape your bases were in come spring, they're worse now, and the edges are probably burred.

Every shop in town is at the start of the same crunch. The queue is manageable this week. In a month it's a wall of skis and a two-week wait, and you're the one picking up a cheap pair of rock skis in December while your good pair sits in the pile.

So beat the rush. Drop them off, get the base grind and fresh edges, pick them up ready for the season. You're paying for it either way. Better on your schedule than the shop's.

And while your skis are in the shop, download Max Vert. It's a card game about skiing — maybe the world's first. You build a hand of skis, pick your runs, and decide when to send it. Your skis will come back from the shop in better shape than they went in. No promises about your Send rate.
